FAQs: I have answers for you!
👋 I'm John and I created My Speaking Score to give you instant, data-driven score predictions direct from ETS’s official SpeechRater® scoring engine.
What is a credit?
A credit is a scoring token.
When you spend 1 credit, My Speaking Score runs a full scoring analysis on one complete task using SpeechRater®.
Important: tasks must be fully completed to be scored.
Example
👉 1 credit scores the full Listen & Repeat task (all 7 responses) or
👉 1 credit scores the full Interview task (all 4 responses)
Do credits expire?
No.
Credits never expire.Once you buy credits, they stay in your account until you use them.
How fast and how accurate are the scores?
Scores come back in seconds.
My Speaking Score uses SpeechRater®, an automated scoring system developed by ETS to evaluate spoken responses using measurable speech features.
That means you get fast, consistent scoring that reflects how TOEFL Speaking performance is evaluated.
What scores will I see?
You’ll see 4 levels of TOEFL Speaking scoring data:
👉 Section score
Your overall TOEFL Speaking score estimate.
👉 Task score
A score for each task you complete.
👉 Prompt score
Scores for each individual response inside the task.
👉 Category scores
Breakdowns by scoring category so you can see exactly what’s helping your score and what’s holding it back.
My Speaking Score is the only TOEFL Speaking scoring tool that shows all four levels in one place.
Can I retake the same test?
Why can't I just use ChatGPT?
ChatGPT can help with ideas and structure, but it can’t reliably predict a TOEFL Speaking score.
That’s because TOEFL Speaking scoring depends heavily on speech delivery signals, not just the words in a transcript.
Most AI tools evaluate:
👉 text you type, or
👉 a transcript converted from audio
But once speech becomes text, important scoring information disappears.
Examples of signals ChatGPT does not measure in a TOEFL-aligned way:
👉 timing under pressure
👉 pause frequency and pause length
👉 sustained speech and breakdowns
👉 speaking rate stability and rhythm consistency
So the feedback can sound encouraging while your score still drops due to delivery penalties you can’t “see” in text.
My Speaking Score solves that by scoring the task using SpeechRater® and showing you what’s actually affecting your score.

My work focuses on measurable progress, structured speaking strategy, and scoring-aligned training.
