✨ Practice for free. Use SpeechRater® credits for TOEFL Speaking score prediction. Oh, and you can still practice for the 2025 format (until January 21st).

👋 I'm John and I created My Speaking Score to give you instant, data-driven score predictions direct from ETS’s official SpeechRater® scoring engine.
What is a credit?
A credit is a SpeechRater scoring token. Use credits to score your TOEFL Speaking responses with ETS's SpeechRater® scoring engine.
Spending one credit triggers a full SpeechRater analysis of one complete TOEFL Speaking task.
In other words, it costs 1 credit to score your 7 responses to the Listen & Repeat task. It also costs 1 credit to score your 4 responses to the Interview task.
Tasks must be completed to be scored.
Example:
- You complete a Listen & Repeat task. If you want that task (i.e. 7 responses) analyzed and scored by SpeechRater, you spend one credit and get scores back for the task and each of the 7 responses.
Do my 2025 credits work for the 2026 format?
Yes. If you already have credits on My Speaking Score, they work in the new format.
Note: In the 2026 format, your credits actually go further.
In the 2026 format, one credit scores an entire task, which includes multiple SpeechRater® scores.
That means you get more scoring and feedback per credit than in 2025.
Example:
- In 2025, 1 credit gives you 1 SpeechRater® score.
- In 2026, 1 credit gives you multiple SpeechRater® scores for the same task.
And your credits never expire.
How fast and how accurate are the scores?
Extremely fast and accurate. My Speaking Score integrates with ETS's SpeechRater® technology, the same scoring engine used in the official TOEFL.
Read our Claude artifact.
SpeechRater® is highly accurate, offering you a realistic assessment of your TOEFL Speaking abilities and highlighting areas for improvement. Scores come back in seconds.
Can I retake the same test?
Absolutely. Repeating tests or tasks can help you track your progress and refine specific skills. It's easy to revisit old tests and re-take them.
Each time you submit a new response, you receive new feedback, allowing you to focus on areas that need the most improvement.
Why can't I just use ChatGPT?
LLMs like ChatGPT are insufficient for TOEFL Speaking prep because they do not have access to the core signals that determine the score.
TOEFL Speaking is not scored on ideas, vocabulary choice, or grammatical correctness alone. It is scored on how the speech signal behaves over time, using an automated system with explicit thresholds.
Most LLM-based workflows and "free" apps operate on text. You either type/paste an answer or the system converts your audio into text and evaluates the words. Once speech is reduced to text, critical scoring information disappears.
LLMs cannot reliably measure speaking rate stability, pause frequency and duration, sustained speech, or timing under pressure. They do not see hesitation patterns, rhythm breakdowns, or delivery inconsistency in a way that aligns with TOEFL scoring logic.
As a result, LLM feedback is biased toward what sounds good on paper. It overweights vocabulary and grammar and underweights delivery. This creates false confidence. Responses can receive positive feedback while still triggering hidden penalties in the actual scoring system.
